On September 11, 2025, HKIE and HKUST(GZ) signed an MOU to establish an HKIE mainland office at HKUST(GZ). This partnership initiates collaboration to advance engineering cooperation between mainland China and Hong Kong and support the international growth of mainland China's engineering sector. The move represents a constructive effort by HKIE and the mainland engineering community to pool resources and foster innovation, while serving as a key step in HKUST(GZ)'s internationalization strategy to enhance its academic and social impact.

Duties

Core Work: Membership Development, Engineer Training, Collaboration and Exchange

Leveraging HKUST(GZ)'s unique academic and talent advantages, the office will focus on the following tasks:

Developing HKIE membership within mainland China, promoting HKIE's mission and activities to attract more mainland engineers to join the institution.

Conducting engineer training and certification programs according to HKIE's standards, to enhance the competitiveness of mainland engineers in international engineering projects.

Utilizing HKUST(GZ)'s strengths and networks in mainland China to assist HKIE in expanding its business, establishing relationships with various stakeholders, and increasing HKIE's influence in the region.
