As the millennial starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, Guangzhou bears a 1,800-year history of maritime transport and an 180-year heritage of shipbuilding, boasting profound maritime resource endowments. Among them, Nansha District, as the core hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the only sea access channel of Guangzhou, and a century-old trading port, shoulders the important task of promoting marine economic development in the new era. To integrate marine industry resources, accelerate scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation, the People's Government of Nansha District, Guangzhou, has joined hands with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(Guangzhou), the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory(Guangzhou), CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd..and Guangzhou Shipyard international Co., Ltd, as initiating units to establish the International Ocean Industry Development Alliance(Nansha) (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance").
