AboutCEE
In response to the national call for cultivating high-level engineering talent and promoting deep industry-academia-research integration, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) officially established the Center for Engineering Excellence (CEE) in March 2025. The CEE aims to integrate practical expertise into campus education and research, foster collaborative innovation across industry, academia, and research, and enhance the international recognition of engineering qualifications in alignment with national and Greater Bay Area strategies.
In today's world, engineers with practical experience play an indispensable role in enriching the academic ecosystem. The Center is committed to supporting the professional development of engineering staff within the university and facilitating in-depth collaboration and exchange between academic engineers and industry experts. Currently, a cross-disciplinary team of more than ten engineers has been formed on campus. They are actively engaged in four cutting-edge fields—ocean engineering, dual-carbon technology, embodied intelligence, and low-altitude economy—driving innovation in engineering education, developing laboratory platforms, and expanding international cooperation.
Another key objective of the Center is to enrich the educational ecosystem by involving engineers and engineering projects to help students gain a deeper understanding of real-world applications. This prepares them to become well-rounded professionals equipped with both technical knowledge and practical skills, ready to meet industry demands. Furthermore, the Center works closely with international organizations to promote the professional growth and global recognition of our graduates and engineers.
